The forthcoming Westmacott regatta to celebrate the designs of Alfred Westmacott will have Azure designed prizes. The classes participating include the Portsmouth Victorys , the X boats, and the Sunbeams There was a presentation to Dee Caffari by Portsmouth City Council to celebrate her achievement in the Vendee Globe and in sailing round the world against the prevailing winds and tides. The Raymarine sponsored Warsash spring series and the Southerly Cup had Azure designs as prizes At the RYA/Volvo dinghy show there was the NSSA trophy on display The Lymington Town SC Autumn series had an Azure sail sculpture for class 1 IRC There was a new concept for the Laser SB3s on the Laser stand at the London Boat Show at Excel. There will be several regattas for a series of these this year. Azure also designed a 'foiling' trophy for the Bloody Mary pursuit race at QMSC sponsored by Hyde sails Well done to the winners of the Garmin sponsored Hamble river winter series. Azure made the trophies for this well supported event Congratulations to all medal winners and the unsung heroes behind the scenes who contributed to team GBR's outstanding success at the Beijing Olympic Games, Azure looks forward to supporting team GBR between now and 2012 The 25th anniversary superyacht regatta of Boat International at the YC Costa Smeralda - Porto Cervo had stunning new trophies from Azure as had the Artemis Challenge for the Volvo 60s at Cowes Week. For the Artemis Transat, Musto chose an Azure design for their Newfoundland Trophy presented for the IMOCA open 60 first across the race gate at Newfoundland. Congratulations to Loick Peyron for winning it. Congratulations also to Tuiga the 19 metre from the YC Monaco on winning class 0 at classic week. The gaff cutter shown is an Azure design Azure Dragon exhibited at the 2008 Dusseldorf Boat Show and returned to Dusseldorf in 2009 . The full range of designs was on display including silverware from the 6metre worlds, the Ellen Macarthur presentation and a powerboat design for Raymarine . Azure made one of the trophies for the round Britain powerboat race in June. There was also a proposal for a large stainless steel sail sculpture for the 2012 Olympic site at Weymouth. Azure Dragon has lots of ideas for the racing sailor in your life. The first Elan regatta and the Intel regatta had Azure prizes as had many other events including the first RS Tera nationals at Hill Head SC, and the Ancora Cup at Lubeck ( Ancora Marina is the largest in Germany) The Warsash spring series again had an Azure design as first prize as did the RS Feva and RS Tera worlds in Sweden.In 2009 Azure will be making all the awards for the RS regatta on lake Garda Azure designed and made the overall black group and white group trophies for Skandia Cowes Week For the Volvo Ocean Race Azure designed the Musto seamanship award for an outstanding example of seamanship during each leg . Presentation for Ellen Macarthur The Royal Ocean Racing Club commissioned a sculpture to be presented to her to celebrate her record breaking voyage. This takes the form of an albatross circling the world. Ellen heads up the 'save the albatross' campaign and the sculpture was on the Azure Dragon stand Azure strongly supports classic yachting and provides all the trophies for the British Classic Yacht Club regatta at Cowes. See www.britishclassicyachtclub.org .There was keen competition from the 6 metres in the build up to last years world championship and metre regatta at Cowes. Azure made the silverware when 60 boats raced for the world championship at Cowes. There were new designs for overall first, second and third for both classics and moderns as well as a 'prix d' elegance' for the most beautiful yacht. It was a truly classic summer with some very graceful boats out racing. In 2008 the BCYC/ metre regatta was the one to watch with Mariquita, Mariette, Tuiga,and the Lady Anne, when the big class yachts from a byegone era returned to Cowes. There was a new Azure design for these which was won by Tuiga. Azure was represented on Ierne, the 1914 Fife 8 metre that won the gold medal at the 1920 olympic games at Antwerp. This yacht is a piece of sailing history and has been magnificently restored. Azure also has as its charity sail4cancer , and increased its involvement with the Manches Cup. S4C was the official charity for the 2007 6 metre worlds , classic week and metre regatta .Azure also supplies the silverware for a number of fund raising events around the country. A prestigious event deserves unique well designed prizes worth winning and Azure was created to deliver these qualities
